EDSN and CGI collaborate on the next step of market facilitation of the energy market
Central ICT platform offers a uniform and future-proof solution for Allocation and Reconciliation (A&R) processes of the grid operators.
Energy Data Services Netherlands (EDSN) and business service provider CGI will realize the next step in facilitating the liberalized energy market using the “Generis” package developed by Enoro. This centralization of different grid operating systems – a task of the Dutch grid operators at EDSN – means the decentralized systems can be shut down one at a time starting in the second half of 2017.
The liberalized energy market – in combination with the energy transition – leads to a larger amount of increasingly more complex data traffic between the different market stakeholders. After the centralization of the connection registry at EDSN in 2013, the harmony and centralization of the systems for allocation, reconciliation and meter data is a logical next step. Allocation and reconciliation concerning the primary allotment of the amount of electricity and/or gas that runs throughout the energy grid goes to the various parties in the energy market (allocation) up to and including the process of the final settlement based on the meter data (reconciliation).
EDSN is the organization commissioned by the regional and national grid operators to carry out the central market facilitation for the energy sector in a neutral manner, including the exchange and management of data, and the maintenance of relevant standards. Operation of the central systems and registers developed for these purposes takes place in Amersfoort. The Dutch energy market is dynamic. Approximately 15% of the households change energy suppliers each year. Website: edsn.nl.
